National Scholastic Art Silver Medal Winners
Congratulations to Seniors, Gaby Clark and Jayda Rhodes, for winning 2019 National Scholastic Art Silver Medals! Their art was Juried as top in the nation among over 340,000 entries! Jayda is pictured here with her underwater photograph title "Yellow Flower" and Gabi is next to her oil painting titled "Rudolf".
Academic Super Bowl Team

2019 Ivy Tech Art Jam High School Art Competition
Junior Mackenzye Reisert won an Honorable Mention at the 2019 Ivy Tech Art Jam High School Art competition. Her work is currently on exhibition in the Pat Harrison Art Gallery in Sellersburg, IN.
Regional Scholastic Art Competition 2019
Congratulations to Gabrielle Clark for winning a Gold Key in the Regional Scholastic Art Competition. Senior, Jayda Rhodes was awarded a Gold Key Individual and Gold Key Portfolio award for her series of underwater images. Cecilie Gisleberg also won a Gold Key for her oil pastel portrait.
2018 International Violin Competition
The Juried Exhibition of Student Art is the education program which officially "kicks off" the activities of the quadrennial International violin competition of Indianapolis (IVCI). There were over 26,000 entries in grades 1-12, and 169 teachers from 58 counties across the state took part in this exciting program. There were only 5 artworks selected from the 11th – 12th grade category submissions and these two New Albany High School Students', Jalen Gornek and Krystianna Hunt, artwork was selected in the top 5 in this category!

Congressional Art Competition 2018
Olivia (Lili) Kaelin won the Congressional Art Competition for the Indiana 9th Congressional District. Her colored pencil drawing of Romeo Langford is an amazing artwork titled "Hoosier of Our Hysteria". She and Romeo are classmates. Lili had Romeo sign the drawing before she entered it in the competition. Her artwork will be exhibited for a year in Washington D. C. in the tunnels that run between the Congressional Offices and the Capitol Building! Congratulations Lili!
Ivy Tech's 2018 Art Jam Competition
Sophomore, Eden Lavigne, won an Honorable Mention at Ivy Tech's 2018 Art Jam Competition! She created this artwork in Photography class while learning about Surrealism and layering using Adobe Photoshop.
Ann Higbie Scholarship
Elizabeth Smith won the Ann Higbie Scholarship for 2017. Congrats, Elizabeth!
Betty Cory Scholarship
Olivia Kaelin won the Betty Cory Scholarship for 2017. Congrats, Lili!
St. James High School Art Competition
Kylie Crawford won a $4,500 Scholarship in the 2016 St. James High School Art Scholarship Competition. She submitted a portfolio of 5 mixed media pieces and competed with close to 40 portfolio submissions.
Art Education Association of Indiana
Below Emily Yellina with her painting that won first place at the Art Education Association of Indiana fall convention. Emily also had her flag design for Youth Art Month selected to represent the State of Indiana.
Gilda's Club Fine Art "Write Stuff" Competition
Students were asked to write or make art reflecting on their connections to cancer. Two students from New Albany High School were the top two winners in the Art Category. Below is Lucinda Quinn who won first place in the 2016 Gilda's Club Fine Art "Write Stuff" Competition. The other is Emily Yellina's piece, that won second place. Gold Key Awards
Below are images of two NAHS seniors who have won Gold Key Awards, and their artwork. Their art will continue via digital images to the National Level of judging in New York City. National winners should be announced by early April. The Gold Key art can be viewed at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft until Feb. 26, 2017 . This is a professional venue for our students to exhibit and is quite an honor to have work selected at the level. There were nearly 2000 entries and their art is in the top 10 percent from schools in 11 counties in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. The first two pictures are of Caitlin Randall, the third is Emily Yellina.
Silver Key Awards
Ivy Tech Art Jam Competition
Here is a photo of Caitlin Randall with her First Place artwork at the Ivy tech Art Jam competition. The Theme was "Moving Forward" in the Spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
She has won a $1,000 scholarship to Ivy Tech!
Jolene Aragon Dearborn is an exhibiting artist in this show too, artwork can be seen at the Ivy Tech College Gallery in Sellersburg.
The 2017 Congressional Art Competition
Congratulations to Junior, Jenna Townsend, who won the Grand Prize in the Indiana 9th Congressional District Art competition. Congressman Trey Hollingsworth came to our school on May 10, 2017, to congratulate Jenna on her accomplishment! Her work will go to Washington D.C. and hang in the tunnels that run between the Congressional Offices and the Nation's Capitol. She will be recognized in a special ceremony in Washington D.C. this summer! She is featured in this photo with Congressman Hollingsworth and her teacher, Trish Korte.
Other New Albany High School winners were also congratulated by Congressman Hollingsworth! Shantanna Argueta won an Honorable Mention (on the left) and Kelsey Humphrey won Second Place (on the right). Congratulations to these talented students too!!

Louisville Area Fiber and Textile Artists (LAFTA)

Students Mental Health Awareness Art
In May, to bring awareness to the unique mental health challenges that students can face, 132 students representing 18 high schools across Indiana, created and submitted artwork pieces in various mediums for the "Your Health Matters" student art competition and showcase.
